The Bokashicycle Yard Waste Fermenting System 55 gal. Capacity is designed to rapidly break down your yard clippings, weeds, and brush so you'll have rich soil for your garden in a matter of weeks. Woody items and branches can also be added to the system, but they need to be shredded first. The fermenting process takes place with a combination of Bokashi culture mix as well as an accelerant that works best when it's layered with the yard waste. The system is also made to break down your food waste as well if you want to mix it in with your yard waste.

Once the system is filled to its 55 gallon capacity, you simply lock the Anaerobic lid into place with the provided band clamp and within seven to 10 days, the entire 55 gallons will have fermented. The fermented yard waste can then be added to a dead compost pile to bring it back to life, or mixed with soil where, in only seven to 10 days, it will convert into rich soil that can be used for your garden and other needs. The fermenting system comes with a 25 pound bag of Bokashi culture mix and a one gallon concentrate of accelerant which is enough to process approximately 550 gallons of hard packed yard waste. A filter cassette for fluid removal, safety pressure release valve, spigot, Bokashi mix dispensing unit, one liter spray bottle, and an instruction set for yard waste processing are also included.

What is Bokashi?
Developed in Japan, Bokashi is a new and revolutionary way of fermenting your kitchen waste. Using micro-organisms, including lactoobacilli, yeasts, and phototropic microbes, Bokashi allows you to ferment practically anything, including leftover meat and fish. When done properly, this method is more akin to the same method used when pickling, with micro-organisms working on breaking down the food waste so it can be used as compost, instead of the food decomposing or rotting. Once the food waste is safe to put in the ground, soil microbes finish the work.

There are many benefits to using the Bokashi method to break down your food waste. For starters, your weekly trash quantities can be reduced by as much as 20-30% which means you'll save money on trash collection. Also, rats and other vermin aren't attracted to the buried fermented product that you will soon use to grow healthier, more vital plants.
