The little arms that fold down probably need to be broken in for a while. They don't fold down when you pull the tool out of the compost. What good does that do you? I'll use it for a while and hopefully they will loosen up. Otherwise I'll have to modify it a bit. Not something I should have to do.

the wings are not long enogh to really hook material, but can mix a pile with a little muscle.

[...]. This tool is plastic and too light weight to delve any deeper into your compost pile than a few inches. Plus the bottom wings are not wide enough to catch and lift much (if any) material. A hoe or shovel would work better, but we use it to poke around with.
