Comments about GeoSystems 127 Gallon GEOBIN Composting System:

I'll be composting for the first time and I liked the look of the GEOBIN Composting System, however it's bigger than I thought, so I had to adapt to fit my area. A little challenging for one person to assemble, but all in all I'm happy with the outcome!

Comments about GeoSystems 127 Gallon GEOBIN Composting System:

Thought I would give composting a try but was put off by the high prices of some of the other composters. This one was cheap, easy to assemble and very durable. It seems to work best being mostly full, so you don't need to use the stakes as the weight of the compost material will keep it in place. I would recommend using a heavier duty stake instead of the flimsy stakes that it comes with if you plan to keep less than half full. Turning weekly seems to work fine using my garden spade. Disadvantage is that there are no separate chambers to separate the stages so completed compost and new compost are mixed together. Durable enough for Wisconsin winters.

Comments about GeoSystems 127 Gallon GEOBIN Composting System:

I have had mine for at least 5 years. It holds a large volume of yard waste and contains it well. Nothing fancy, but in it's favor it has not suffered any damage under extreme snow loads in the Sierras at 6200' elevation. In this cold climate I have trouble keeping it heated up. Works best if you have fresh grass clippings to build the layers. Still, the material rots as it would in a 4'square pile kept moist. I don't use meat scraps because of the wildlife here. I think it succeeds to be what it was designed for-economical and large volume. I find turning the stuff fun. It smells great and is a satisfying part of composting.

Compost bin is alright, I'm honestly not sure if it is going to stand up to winter in New England though. We shall see!
