I've had one of these composters for about two years and I'm not terribly impressed. I use mine just to get the kitchen scraps partially composted before transferring the contents to my larger compost piles. For that purpose, this unit works fine, to a point. However, it isn't very well built. First off, it needs some mechanism to adjust airflow, and thus control how wet the compost stays. As is, this composter keeps the contents too wet, causing them to become anaerobic and STINKY fairly fast. Also, the construction is just too light weight for its intended use. Once it's about half full the rollers on the base won't spin freely; I just roll it around the yard a little and set it back on its base when done. Also, the little prongs on the inside (which seem to be intended to help mix the compost) break off over time, and the male component of the lid-latches break off one by one. I'm looking to replace my almost worn-out model with something a bit more robust.

After all if you want to have a black plastic thing in your yard, why not have something that seems like it will do the job of composting very well and is also fun to look at?
Assembly was easy if you are remotely comfortable with tools, the directions were clear and well written, and, all in all it was a fun and satisfying project that occupied an otherwise boring Sunday afternoon.

This was horrible to assemble. Several of the steps should be reversed. It was extremely difficult and time consuming to hammer rthe pins in whenthe two halves of the composter were assembled. You ahve to be very flexible or a [*] I hit my thumb numerous times as the pins popped out of place.

I read the instructions for mixing compost and everything is easy except, I am NOT sticking my hand in it to see if it is warm or cool, moist or dry!

This composter is very poorly designed. It sticks so badly that right now I can't even open it, and I've only had it a few months.
