Great for green thumbs or anyone who strives for sustainability, the CompostCycle 49 Gallon Resin Compost Tumbler is a convenient way to recycle your outdoor waste and transform it into solid compost and liquid fertilizer, or "compost tea." This nutrient-packed, organic liquid drains from the bin into the base, which holds 6 gallons of compost tea. The plug on the base makes it easy to unload; simply turn the handle and drain directly into the ground, or attach a hose and empty into a watering can.

 

Made of 100% recycled plastic resin, this compost tumbler is compact enough to fit into small spaces. The inventive drum-and-base design makes it easy to rotate, eliminating back aches. And the drum easily rolls off the base for hassle-free transportation to any location. The lid twists and locks in place, sealing in components and locking out animals.     I am 63 and this is my first composter. I like that it is large enough but not so large to stick out in the yard . Can even use it in the deck if necessary. It turns really easily, which is why for older people it is a very good composter. Large mouth, again for ease of use. It is well built and does the job. The faucet at the bottom is a great addition to either make or collect "tea". I will recoup my money really quickly with the price of potting soil. After many reviews I found this one was the best for the price and value.

    It assembled easily and I put it in my garden and filled it with the vegetable/fruit peelings and coffee grounds that had been accumulating this past week awaiting its arrival. I already have a stationary compost bin but have to wait for the worms to do their duty and make the compost. I thought this would be much faster. The first time I gave it a turn, I saw the kitchen waste matter spilling out and I realized that the ring holding the lid was not secure. The holes were drilled in the wrong place and didn't hold the screws down. In addition, three of the screws were bent. This allowed the ring to be open about an inch on one side and the contents to spill out when the drum is turned. I was terribly disappointed. I really wanted it to work. Now I have to go to the trouble of returning it and getting it replaced. I am hoping that this defect is unusual and not a standard lack of quality control from this company.

                These make 3 tumblers and 3 stationary bins. I plan to cycle them and keep fresh compost in planters and garden and enriching tea pouring.

                Setup was easy, lid opens and closes nicely, and the bin tumbles easily. Smaller than I prefer, but 3 will do the job.

                So far I am happy with this green 49 gallon cap compost bin. The bin is low to the ground which makes it less noticeable and important as I live in the suburbs. The bin is fairly easy to rotate, my wife can even do it, and the effort exceeds my expectations. I was concerned about some negative comments about it being difficult to rotate the barrel style bins. I was also concerned about the size of the lid/opening but I am able to shovel material in and out fairly easily. The threads on the lid do get dirt on them and I'm wondering how well it will hold up in the long run. The bin appears to be well made and durable. So far its been a great improvement over the stand up bin where I had to turn the compost with a pick and great difficulty.

                Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
