Redworms
Uncle Jim's Red Worms are truly champs when it comes to your composting needs. They can turn almost any organic material into a nutrient-rich, high-grade compost that Uncle Jim calls Black Gold. A pound of Uncle Jim's Redworms can turn a pound of leaves, grass clippings, or even household garbage into a pound of top-quality, high-grade manure in only 24 hours. It's not just rotten organic debris; rather, it's actually digested worm castings that won't burn even the most delicate seedlings.
Uncle Jim's Redworms are heat- and cold-resistant and breed quickly. With proper care and feeding, they lay capsules every 30 days. Each capsule contains six or seven baby worms. These worms are perfect for any garden, compost bin or pile, or food additive. They also make excellent fish bait and attract wild birds.
Please note that worm purchases only ship out on Mondays due to the nature of the product.

I have two wonderful puppies that produce the by product of their food...poo. I'd been putting it in the garbage (wrapped) and thought "there has to be a better way" I found the compost bin site and ordered the worm composting kit on the spot. I initially had a problem with the directions included from "Tumbleweed" for the worms (DO NOT COVER THEM WITH PLASTIC AS THE DIRECTIONS WITH BIN SUGGEST!!!)and the phone no. was incomplete. But I haD great help and advice from compost bin site rep. Now, my wowrms are happily composting, and I can't wait to add the organic matter to my garden. Every little bit helps, especially when it comes to recycling.

Comments about Uncle Jim's Red Worms:
I ordered the worm factory 360 and worms at the same time. The worms arrived a few days ahead of the worm factoy so had to keep them in the bag. They didn't complain but would have been a smoother setup if they're shipment had been stalled a few days to allow for their new home to be ready when they got here.

Comments about Uncle Jim's Red Worms:
I ordered 1000 Red Wigglers and the Worm Factory 360. If you have the same plan, I'd recommend ordering the Worm Factory first. The worms arrived well before the composter.
They were a bit lethargic for the first couple of days. I didn't count them. It looked like 1000 worms. It included a nice blend of adults and babies.
I'm only a week into this adventure, but the worms appear healthy, active and are definitely eating through our kitchen scraps!

Q1: I ordered worms from you and they have arrived before my composter. What should I do with the worms until I get the compost bin?
A: The worms can last up to ten days in the packaging they arrived in. (Not the best, but they will last) Give them some water when they arrive.
If you're afraid they won't make it, you can make a temporary home for them instead. Put the worms into a plastic container about the size of a shoe box or bucket. Put some shredded black and white newsprint in the bottom that has been moistened (about the amount of a rung out sponge). This will act as food and bedding until your compost bin arrives and they can be placed into their new permanent home.
